Guitar Lesson on Zelda's Lullaby "Ocarina of Time"

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

Hey there guitar players! Here's an easy lesson from a classic video game.

This is a great example of how melodies can be captivating and iconic. This is an easy place to start for guitar students because there aren't many strings involved. The form is simple, A section and B section. There are four different rhythms included. Here the are listed in the order they appear. Half Note (2 beats)

Quarter Note (1 beat)

Eighth notes ( half beat)

Dotted Half Notes (3 beats)

The other notation to watch out for is the ties at the end of measure 16. Two dotted half notes held together by a tie makes a note that lasts for 6 beats!

The B section is all up an octave from written (8va symbol). The TABS accommodate for this.

Remember to count through the rhythms. Here's a link to listen to the song:

Enjoy the practice and keep playing!
